Day 1: Arrival in Jaisalmer – Jaisalmer Sightseeing – Sam Desert Camp
Your memorable Dussehra holiday begins with arrival in Jaisalmer, where you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel or desert camp. After some time to refresh, begin exploring the historic Golden City.
Visit the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, popularly known as Sonar Qila. The living fort is filled with narrow lanes, traditional houses, temples, shops and beautifully decorated heritage buildings.
Continue your sightseeing with a visit to Patwon Ki Haveli, followed by Salim Singh Ki Haveli and the picturesque Gadisar Lake. These attractions provide an excellent introduction to Jaisalmer’s architecture, history and desert culture. Rajasthan Tourism also includes the fort, havelis and Gadisar Lake among the city’s principal sightseeing experiences.
In the afternoon, drive towards Sam Sand Dunes, located in the Thar Desert. Enjoy the changing colours of the desert landscape as the sun begins to set. A camel safari can be arranged as an optional experience, allowing you to discover the dunes in traditional Rajasthani style.

Day 2: Dussehra Celebration – Desert Experience – Departure
Wake up to a beautiful desert sunrise and enjoy breakfast at the camp. The morning is free to relax, take photographs and experience the peaceful surroundings of the Thar Desert.
As this tour is planned around Dussehra, the day’s activities can be adjusted according to the local celebration schedule. Dussehra traditionally commemorates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and the triumph of good over evil.
After breakfast, return towards Jaisalmer city and, depending on the timing of your departure, you may have some free time for local shopping. Jaisalmer is particularly known for handicrafts, textiles, traditional decorative items and other desert-region souvenirs.
