Desert Festival Jaisalmer (14th to 16th February 2022)

The Desert Festival is held in Jaisalmer, usually in the month of January or February, every year. The duration of the festival is three days and it comes to an end on Poornima, the full moon day.

The main purpose of the Desert Festival is to display the rich and colorful culture of the state of Rajasthan. Dressed in vibrant and colorful attire, the locals dance to the tunes of lingering ballads of heroism, romance and tragedy of the folk heroes.

The major attractions of the Desert Festival of Jaisalmer include snake charmers, puppeteers, acrobats, folk performers, etc. Especially, the Gair and Fire dancers, in their vibrant and colorful costumes, capture your heart. However, amongst all these, the ship of the desert, camel does not loses its special place. Apart from the camel rides that are quite popular, camels take part in a number of events. Of them, the most famous and unique ones are camel polo and camel dance.

Day 1: Arrival at Jaisalmer and Jaisalmer Sightseeing

Upon arrival, Pick up from Jaisalmer Railway Station/Bus Stand and assisted transfer to your hotel. Get ready to begin the excursion to Jaisalmer. Visit the Jaisalmer Fort locally known as Sonar Quila (Golden Fort) is one of the largest forts in the world and a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Pay a visit to the beautiful havelis (or mansions)of Jaisalmer which  feature Rajputana architecture-Patwon ki Haveli and  Nathmal  ki Haveli. Spend some time at Gadsisar Lake which is a man-made lake surrounded by temples and ghats.  Later visit Vyas Chhatri  which is a popular sunset point to view the fort.  You may visit the local market of Jaisalmer. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2- Jaisalmer Sightseeing 

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Lodurva village which is famous for magnificent Jain Temples. Visit  the Bada Bagh which is a beautiful garden built by Maharaja Lunakaran located in the outskirts of Jaisalmer. In the evening, you will be driven to Sam Sand Dunes which is 40 Kms away from Jaisalmer city. It lies in the midst of the Thar Desert where you can watch a splendid sunset followed by a camel safari on sand dunes. Besides Camel Safari, you may enjoy other activities like Jeep Safari and Desert Camping at Sam Sand Dunes. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3- Departure from Jaisalmer

Post breakfast, It’s time to say Good Bye and our representative will drop you at Railway Station/Bus Stand as per your schedule.
